In 130 days, Southern California Edison, the owners of the failed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), will begin burying millions of pounds of deadly radioactive nuclear waste on the beach at San Onofre State Beach Park. Edison’s public relations department has spent millions of dollars creating a “Community Engagement Panel” with a public comments period.

The sole purpose of the Community Engagement Panel is to persuade the public that its plan to store the waste in containers that are only guaranteed to last 25 years on the beach is safe and responsible. This event takes place tomorrow, November 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 at the DoubleTree Hotel, Doheny Beach, Dana Point at 34402 Pacific Coast Hwy, Dana Point, CA 92624 (Get Map).
