Get a copy of the agenda here.

The meeting starts at 9:00 am at the Chula Vista City Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910  (get map)

Why this meeting is important:

If Southern California Edison gets its way, the Coastal Commission will vote “yes” to approve a permit that will allow the complete destruction of the spent fuel pools at SONGS, and the creation of a public “exclusion area” around the existing beachfront nuclear waste dump.  We are concerned that if a radiation leak occurs from a damaged canister in the future, the only safe and effective way to repackage the highly radioactive fuel will be underwater in the spent fuel pool building. If this plan goes through, the spent fuel pools, and the building  will be demolished.

Citizens who want to make comments before the vote should plan on arriving before the 9:00 am roll call to sign up as a speaker. Speakers are usually given fewer than three minutes to address the Commission.

Don’t miss out! Sign in before 9:00 am if you want to  speak!
