Someone has been posting enormous radiation warning signs over the I-5 freeway in San Clemente.
Public Watchdogs received this photo earlier today, July 24, 2026, at 9:30am this morning.
The sign, erected by concerned San Clemente citizens is an obvious reference to the 3.6 million pounds of deadly radioactive “spent” nuclear fuel stored at the non-functioning San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. The so-called “spent” fuel is radioactively deadly for more than 25,000 years, and it is being stored in thin-walled canisters that have a ten-year warranty. *
San Onofre was shut down after it leaked a plume of deadly radioactive steam into the surrounding community on January 31, 2012. Since then, the failed nuclear power plant has left a deadly legacy of eternally deadly waste stored fewer that 100 feet from the crashing surf and sugar-sand beaches of one of America’s most popular surfing beaches.
