Please mark your calendar for Thursday, November 5, at 4:00PM for an online meeting on San Onofre.
Southern California Edison is giving an update on the ongoing decommissioning of the failed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m.
This “virtual” meeting is paid for with your past contributions from the ratepayer funded $2.5 Billion Decommissioning Trust Fund (DTF).
WHO: Southern California Edison’s quarterly “Community Engagement Panel” (CEP) virtual meeting.
WHAT: Meeting materials are posted here.
WHEN: 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. (PST) Thurs, November 5, 2026
WHERE: Southern CA Edison’s Website
WHY: Was there bid-rigging at San Onofre?
The current San Onofre nuclear waste dump, which is known as an “Independent Spent Fuel Storage Facility” or “ISFSI” is located in a tsunami inundation zone that is 100 feet from the beach on an earthquake fault line on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base, making it a viable military target in a time of war.
The nuclear waste at SONGS is deadly for tens of thousands of years and is located a few hundred yards from Interstate 5, a vital transportation corridor.
Be there if you can!
