CA Coastal Commission Staff ignores Commissioner Nuthoff’s request regarding Southern California Edison’s Conditional Permit Violations

The following is an email sent to the California Coastal Commission Enforcement Division from Public Watchdogs

Fri, Jul 3, 4:09 PM

Dear Enforcement Director,

As evidenced by the Coastal Commission’s own June 5, 2026, 4:14 PM Email Delivery Confirmation attached,  Public Watchdogs’ Enforcement Office submittal warrants the Commission’s formal acknowledgement of its receipt with a response in alignment with the Commission’s own criteria of ‘Resolving Violations’.

As such with CDP 9-19-0194, amended with SPECIAL CONDITION #19, when implemented by Edison has revealed ‘inconsistencies with the conditions’ as well as Edison’s ‘fail(ure) to complete actions as required by that CDP’.

Your own CA Coastal Commission video captured Ann Nutthoff’s specific San Onofre request to Coastal Commission Staff regarding her concerns of ‘permit conditions that aren’t being fully complied with’… Coastal Commission Staff spent 4:71 (minutes/seconds) responding to Nutthoff’s rail inquiry but not 1 second, nor 1 syllable in response to her legitimate San Onofre inquiry.

Particularly, since it’s clearly stated that the: ‘Commission relies substantially upon the public’s help discovering Coastal Act violations,’ we reiterate our request for a response and invite the Coastal Commission’s Enforcement in resolving these potential permit violations.

Respectfully,

Nina J. Babiarz

Public Watchdogs, Founding Board Member and Director of Development
