The public is invited to attend a media event at 1:00 PM on April 14th on the steps of the San Diego Hall of Justice at 330 West Broadway San Diego (get map) to draw attention to the HazMat Surf problem at the newly built San Onofre Nuclear Waste Dump. Conveniently located just 36 yeards from the sugar-sand beaches and sparkling surf of San Onofre, the new dump will hold 75 “Chernobyl Cans” of nuclear waste in delicate thin-walled casks. Each cask will contain, on average, the radioactive equivalent of 9.3 nuclear warheads, or roughly the same amount of radiation that was released at Chernobyl.
