There has been yet another radiation leak involving the failed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), and we need your attendance at a virtual meeting at 2pm Thursday to hold them accountable.
Even if you remain silent your presence will put extreme pressure on Edison to tell the truth!
(and as you know, “truth-telling” is not a part of Edison’s corporate culture).
On Thursday, June 5 at 2:00pm, Southern California Edison will convene a virtual meeting on the status of the failed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, (SONGS). You can attend the virtual meeting here, although Edison has failed to mention any details of its latest radiation leak at the “Community Engagement” web site.
You can learn about this shocking development on Thursday afternoon at an Edison-sponsored virtual meeting from 2pm to 5pm, September 5 (meeting details here). You can get a description at this page, which shockingly makes no mention of Edison’s latest radioactive blunder.
About the radiation leak:
The leak occurred during the transport of a 100-ton, thirty-seven foot high, “pressurizer.” Edison has claimed that the leak is below “background” radiation.
A railroad worker in San Bernardino discovered the leak on or around June 30, during the pressurizer’s long journey from San Onofre to a disposal site in Clive Utah.
None of the newspaper reports mention the date, but Public Watchdogs did some digging and discovered that the leak was reported on June 30, via a hard-to-find EVENT REPORT filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The San Diego Union Tribune has covered the story, as well as the pro-nuclear Orange County Register, which has portrayed the event as inconsequential, claiming that surveys found no “detectable level of radioactivity …”
Edison withheld the story for 47-days before it notified the public.
Why the 47-day wait to notify the public?
Was it because they wanted more time for the radiation fade away? Or did they need more time to get their public relations story together?
Please attend this meeting on Thursday September 5, 2:00pm
Now more than ever, we need to hold Edison accountable
